More Confidence and Comfort After Breast Reduction
If your body doesn’t feel quite right, it can affect you physically, emotionally and mentally. Many patients experience more confidence and comfort after breast reduction.
Both of Hayley Wells’ parents’ families were big chested, and she started having big breasts at a young age. She remembers being made fun of for wearing a bra before anyone else. Wells says, “I couldn’t find younger-looking things that fit me in the chest area. When I did find something, it looked like I was trying to show cleavage when I wasn’t.”
In her mid-20s, she started dealing with the physical consequences of large breasts. She started having back problems because she’d hunch forward to make her breasts look smaller.
The breaking point was at an Orange Theory class. She always wore two bras, a tank top and a sweatshirt to hide her chest, no matter how hot she felt during the sweaty workout. Wells looked over and saw two girls pointing and making fun of her to each other. “I was mortified,” she says. “I immediately got off the treadmill and went home.”

She saw two other plastic surgeons before coming to Ron Hollins, MD, DMD. Each of the other plastic surgeons tried to offer additional services. Dr. Hollins focused on what Wells wanted: a simple breast reduction. He told her that in most cases, insurance covers the procedure.
“The important thing is to understand the patient and address their problem,” says Dr. Hollins. He’s been performing aesthetic surgeries for more than 29 years. His team at Village Pointe Aesthetic Surgery is experienced and patient-focused.
Wells says her scars have faded in the three years since she had the surgery. “If you can accept some scars, you can get a great outcome, like breasts more relative to the rest of your body,” says Dr. Hollins.
After her surgery, Wells lost a lot of weight because she liked going to the gym. She didn’t feel like everyone was watching when she’d sprint on the treadmill.

“You can love your body but want it to be healthier and happier. You can appreciate what your body does for you and still want to be able to do more things and wear more things,” says Wells.
“After a breast reduction surgery, many patients experience relief from back pain. It’s very unusual to have a patient who isn’t happy they did it,” says Dr. Hollins.
“I’m so glad I did it,” says Wells. “Dr. Hollins is so professional and compassionate. I also called the nurses several times, asking if things were normal, and they answered every question.”
“Do your research and interview lots of plastic surgeons,” she advises others wanting to make a change. “It’s okay to want to change your body.”
