Inverted nipples are flat and do not protrude the way a normal nipple does, sometimes they can appear pinched, folded inward or somewhat shrunken. Sometimes, they can be a source of distress or cause problems with breastfeeding.

Typically, an inverted nipple surgery involves lifting the tissue surrounding the nipples and areolas. A new shape of the nipple is then created.
