As people age the effects of gravity, sun exposure and stress can effect the face. The results are excess or baggy skin, deep creases in the nose, cheek and mouth, jowling, wrinkling of banding in the neck and excess deposits in the neck. A facelift is a cosmetic procedure designed to give the face a more youthful appearance. It cannot reverse the aging process, but it can significantly improve the signs of aging. Often a facelift is done in combination with other procedures to give a more youthful appearance such as blepharoplasty and forehead lifts.

Who are candidates for a facelift?

The ideal candidate for a face lift is a man or woman in good health whose face and neck has begun to sag, but with relatively good skin tone. The patient with jowling and banding or fatty deposits in the neck is also a good candidate.

What type of surgery is performed?

The incisions used are usually in the hairline curving down in a natural crease in front of the ear around the earlobe and back into the hair line behind the ear. The skin is often separated from the underlying muscle and connective tissue later and both layers are tightened. Liposuction is often used at the time of surgery to remove excess fat from certain areas. The incisions, type of facelift and liposuction needed will depend on the individual facial characteristics. Frequently a small plastic drain tube is used under the skin to prevent any blood or fluid collections.

What are the risks of surgery?

When performed by trained plastic and reconstructive surgeons the risk of complications is very low. Complications include bleeding (hematoma), infection, possible injury to the facial nerve branches and infection.

How much does a facelift cost?

Like most cosmetic surgeries, face lift costs are dependent on the individual’s needs and desires. For the exact same procedure, you are unlikely to find more than a few hundred dollar difference between different surgeons and offices. Factors that affect costs are:

  • Surgeon’s fees
  • Anesthesia fees
  • Facility fees
  • Prescriptions or medications
  • Post-surgery garments

  • Dr. Miller and his team at Dreams Med Spa did a wonderful job from pre-op to surgery and follow up examinations. Takes the time to listen and finds exactly what works for you. Clean office and pre-op rooms, private and professional staff as well as on time appts. and follow up cares. I will be using them for any future needs I may have

  • Because I was treated for breast cancer at 32, I was fairly certain I would opt for reconstructive surgery. I didn't know which doc to go with. I'm so thankful someone steered me towards Dr. Miller. The process is a little lengthy in nature and getting "fills" to stretch the tissue to accommodate the new breast implants was not my favorite. But, cancer treatment is not a sprint...It's a marathon and this was just part of the treatment and recovery process. The discomfort was worth it, without a doubt. I'd do it again.

  • Since i was younger i knew i always wanted bigger breast. Once i was able to afford it i knew i had to do it and i’m soooo glad i did! This process was smooth and easier then i thought. If you are even questioning the procedure i suggest at least going in for a free consultation!!
